What Is The Local Currency?

The local currency is the Seychelles Rupee. It cannot be converted outside of the Seychelles.  You may consider changing your hard currency for some Seychelles Rupee notes at the airport or at local banks located on Mahe, Praslin or La Digue.  There are as well authorised money exchange locations.

ATM machines are easily located on Mahe at the airport, Anse Royale, and in town - Victoria.  On Praslin they are located at the airport and at certain banks in the village.  Likewise you will find ATM service on La Digue.

Retain your receipt of exchange should you hope to change you extra rupees back to hard currency.  Plan on doing this at least 2 days before leaving.
